SOAR Swim Program

Every summer, SOAR hosts a week long swim camp that focuses on teaching youth and adults with disabilities how to safely enjoy aquatic recreation, promoting as much independent movement in the water as possible. Each swimmer has his/her individual goals ranging from water exploration to skill refinement.

In collaboration with Special Olympics Coastal Georgia, SOAR hosts a year round swim program offering fall, winter and spring sessions. Focus is on maintaining and advancing skills of previous participants and teaching new swimmers. Each session culminates in a local Special Olympics event.

"My adult son with developmental disabilities recently learned to swim in a SOAR sponsored event. Monday he was standing in the pool. Friday he was swimming laps. We are grateful for the opportunities this group works to provide." -Parent
